Ginger: Ginger dates back over 5000 years and is called srngaveram in Sanskrit, meaning “horn root” based on its appearance. Ayurveda prescribes ginger as a tonic root for over 5000 years to treat many ailments. Ginger aids digestion, reduces flatulence and soothes sore muscles and hence known to aid weight loss and ease fatigue. Its anti-bacterial property helps to fight bacteria and improve immunity.
How to use:
Fresh ginger can be crushed and used with hot water as decoction. It is widely used in India in its direct form to spice the teas and salads. The dry ginger powder is used in many Indian recipes.
Garlic: Garlic is helps to improve digestive fires and hence aids metabolism resulting in weight loss. It boosts energy levels that burn all the calories. Garlic adds fiber and helps to balance food intake by regulating hunger pangs.
Crushed garlic is used as a garnish in many Indian recipes. Gravies of India essentially include ginger and garlic in freshly ground form to increase Agni (digestive fire).
